OBERLIN, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team placed sixth of 34 teams competing at the 2011 Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday at the Oberlin Cross Country Trail.
Albion College (Mich.) won the team title with 117 points and was followed in the top-five by Allegheny College (Pa.) at 140, St. Vincent College (Pa.) at 193, Ohio Wesleyan University at 204 and Ithaca College (N.Y.) at 230.
Senior Ethan Teare (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) was the top Spartan finisher with a 19th-place time of 26:22.7. Junior Chris Kelly (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) was next to cross the line for Case in 22nd place (26:26.70). Seniors Christopher Wade (Berea, Ohio/Berea) and Peter Walls (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) placed 28th (26:37.10) and 74th (27:08.90), respectively. Sophomore David Dixon (Atlanta, Ga./Lakeside) rounded out the scoring in 93rd place with a mark of 27:31.60.
The Spartans are now set for championship season, starting with the University Athletic Association meet on Saturday, October 29 at Montrose Beach in Chicago, Illinois.
The NCAA Great Lakes Regional and the NCAA Division III Championship follow on November 12 and 19, respectively.
