John Healey Named UAA Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Week
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – For the first time this season and second time in his career, Case Western Reserve University senior captain John Healey (Columbia, Md./Atholton) has been named the University Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week, announced the league office on Monday.
Healey was 2-0 at both No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles in matches versus No. 17 nationally ranked University of Chicago and Coe College (Iowa) this past weekend.
Ranked 13th in doubles in the ITA Central Region, Healey and junior Will Drougas (Roanoke, Va./Salem) won 8-1 against Chicago and 8-6 against Coe. In singles play, Healey picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory versus Chicago's Gordon Zhang and a 6-2, 6-3 win against Coe's Michael Janssen. Healey is now 5-2 in singles play and 20-6 in doubles action this season.
For his career, Healey has a combined 130 wins (53 singles/77 doubles). He ranks second all-time in program history behind Kyle Gerber's (2009-13) record of 139.
The Spartans conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 19, against Earlham College (Ind.) for Seniors' Day at 3:00 p.m. at Carlton Courts.
