OBERLIN, Ohio -- The No. 17 nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team stretched its win streak to five matches with 9-0 sweeps of both Hope College (Mich.) and Oberlin College on Saturday at John W. Heisman Fieldhouse.
The Spartans (7-4 overall) wrap up the weekend tomorrow afternoon with a 2:00 p.m. match versus Division I Cleveland State University at Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake.
Senior Sean Carr (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) was 2-0 for the day in singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 victory versus Hope's Gabe Casher at No. 3 and a 6-2, 6-0 win versus Oberlin's Logan Chun at No. 1. Carr also teamed with junior Richard Brunsting (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) to defeat Hope's No. 2 doubles team, 8-6.
Senior captain Rohan Patel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) and sophomores Eric Klawitter (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) and Derek Reinbold (Carmel, Ind./Park Tudor) also posted 2-0 singles marks for the day.
Junior Kyle Gerber (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Preparatory) and sophomore John Healey (Columbia, Md./Atholton) were Case's No. 1 doubles tandem, posting an 8-3 win versus Hope and an 8-1 victory at Oberlin.
