Drougas, Klawitter Compete During Final Day of Purdue Invitational
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Case Western Reserve University freshman Will Drougas (Roanoke, Va./Salem) and sophomore Eric Klawitter (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hershey) competed in the semifinals of two separate flights during the final day of the Purdue University Invitational on Sunday at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Drougas, who earned a spot in the final four of the Flight A back draw, defeated Matija Palinic of Depaul University by a 6-1, 6-4 tally. In the other semifinal, Nadin Indre of Western Michigan University advanced to the final with a walkover win. During the final, Indre took a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Drougas.
In the Flight B singles back draw semifinals, Klawitter was matched up with the University of Iowa's Chris Speer. Speer was victorious via a 6-1, 6-1 tally and eventually went on to win the B back draw title.
The Spartans will now get ready for the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional in St. Louis, Missouri. The event will take place from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25, and will be hosted by University Athletic Association member Washington University-St. Louis.
