Drougas Becomes Second Spartan Men’s Tennis Player in as Many Weeks to be Named UAA Athlete of the Week
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Case Western Reserve University freshman Will Drougas (Roanoke, Va./Salem) became the second Spartan in as many weeks to be named University Athletic Association Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday. Drougas earned the award for his performance at the Purdue University Invitational this past weekend.
Drougas follows sophomore Eric Klawitter (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hershey), who earned UAA Athlete of the Week acclaim last Monday.
Drougas advanced to the Flight "A" back draw finals at Purdue with a 3-2 record against five straight Division I opponents. The freshman earned victories versus players from the University of Iowa and Depaul University.
Drougas, the highest-ranked recruit in CWRU tennis history, is 4-3 overall this fall.
The Spartans return to action at the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional in St. Louis, Missouri. The event will take place from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25, and will be hosted by University Athletic Association member Washington University-St. Louis.
