Emily Wylam enters her third season as assistant coach for Case Western Reserve swimming & diving in 2012-13. Wylam was named to her position on July 2, 2010.

During her first two seasons with the program, Wylam has helped lead the Spartans to successful campaigns that earned her a spot on the University Athletic Association Coaching Staff of the Year.

In 2011-12, the Spartan men jumped to as high as No. 12 in the national polls, posting an 11-1 dual match record, and matching the best conference finish in program history with a third-place showing at the 2012 UAA Championship hosted by Case Western Reserve. For their efforts, Wylam and Head Coach Doug Milliken were tabbed as the UAA Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year for the second-straight season. During the course of the season, the team also set six school records, hit numerous NCAA “B-Cuts” and won the Wooster Invitational in late December.

On the women’s side, the Spartans shattered six school records and landed multiple NCAA “B-Cuts” while joining the men’s team on the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American list for the second time in as many years.

Prior to joining the staff at CWRU, Wylam spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach for the men’s and women’s swimming programs at University of the Pacific (Calif.). While at Pacific, her responsibilities included various facets of the recruiting process such as maintaining contact with prospective student-athletes and preparing and organizing official visits. She was also involved in conducting and administering daily practices and dual meets.

Wylam’s coaching background began with an assistant coaching stint with the Kiln Creek Swim Team in 2005 and continued as an Age Group Coach with the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins and the Head Coach of the Tabb Tigershark Swim Team from 2005-08.

Wylam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio University in 2008 and a master’s degree in sports sciences with a concentration in sports psychology from Pacific in 2010.

A highly decorated Division I collegiate swimmer, Wylam was co-captain her final two years at OU, where she was a member of the Mid-American Conference Championship team as a senior as well as the recipient of several individual MAC championship honors. She was a three-time first-team All-MAC selection and an Academic All-American in 2008.

In addition to her duties with the Spartan swimming & diving program, Wylam serves as an assistant strength & conditioning coach for the athletic department.
