Spartan Men Suffer First Loss Against Thomas More

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2016 season falling 1-0 against Thomas More College.

The Spartans are now 1-1 on the season, while the Saints improve to 2-0 overall.

A tight match through the very end, Thomas More found the net just within the 83rd minute of play. The leading scorer for the Saints this season, Brian Runyon, scored his third goal of the season off of an assist by Griffin Garrison.

Senior Thomas Nolan made four saves during a scoreless first half. Junior Calvin Boyle turned away one shot and allowed one goal as he played the final 45 minutes in the second half. Sophomore midfielder Paul Darmstadter finished the game with two shots and senior midfielder Jacob Grindel and sophomore midfielder Jacob Phillips each finished with one shot. CWRU totaled four shots during the game.

The Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday, September 7th, taking on the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets for a 7:30 p.m. game time.
