ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In a match that the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team needed to stay alive in the NCAA Playoff picture, it was the University of Rochester that came out victorious by a score of 2-0 on Saturday evening at Fauver Stadium.

The Spartans see their season end at 8-6-4 overall and 2-3-2 in the University Athletic Association. The team entered the week ranked fourth in the NCAA Great Lakes Region.

The Yellowjackets improve their NCAA Tournament resume at 9-5-3 overall, 3-3-1 UAA.

Rochester scored twice in the opening 30 minutes and wound up holding a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. Ben Keaton accounted for the first score at 11:14 on a shot from 20 yards out, and Alex Swanger added the second via an assist by Jeffrey Fafinski at 29:14.

In net, freshman Calvin Boyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) made five saves to run his season total to 80. Michael Shatkin needed just one stop for the hosts.

Despite the tough ending to the season, CWRU increased its win total by two under second-year Head Coach Brandon Bianco and worked its way into the regional rankings for the first time since 2011.

Individually, the team's season points title went to junior midfielder Chris Cvecko (Erie, Pa./McDowell) with 18. Freshman midfielder Michael Balog (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) tied Cvecko for first on the team with seven goals.
