OBERLIN, Ohio – Junior midfielder Chris Cvecko (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and sophomore forward Joshua Prosser (Springfield, Va./South County) scored second-half goals as the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team tied Oberlin College, 2-2, on Wednesday night at Fred Shults Field.

With the draw, the Spartans (6-4-2) remain one victory away from surpassing their win total from a season ago. Freshman goalkeeper Calvin Boyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) made a career-high 18 saves. Boyle's previous best was seven this past Sunday at No. 4 Brandeis University (Mass.). For Oberlin (4-5-1), Oldie Kuijpers made six saves.

Following a scoreless opening half, the teams traded goals in a span of 22 seconds. In the 69th minute, Cvecko was taken down inside the box and scored on the subsequent penalty kick, burying a low shot past a diving Kuijpers. The tally was Cvecko's sixth of the season, tying him with freshman forward Michael Balog (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) for the team lead. After the ensuing kickoff, the Yeomen quickly answered as Matt Bach-Lombardo set up Nick Wertman to knot the contest at 1-1.

With just over 11 minutes remaining in regulation, the Spartans surged ahead on Prosser's second goal of the season. In the 89th minute, the Yeomen struck back on an equalizer by Slade Gottlieb, ultimately salvaging a tie for Oberlin.

The teams combined for 55 shot attempts, with Oberlin owning a 30-25 advantage. The Yeomen also held a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Spartans now return home for a Saturday, October 11 University Athletic Association match versus New York University. Kickoff from DiSanto Field is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The team's six remaining regular season matches are all in the UAA.
