ADA, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss at No. 24 nationally-ranked Ohio Northern University on Saturday evening at Kerscher Stadium.

After a four-match win streak, the Spartans (4-3-1) have now dropped two in a row. The Polar Bears (6-3) break a two-match losing streak of their own.

Scoring came early and often for the Polar Bears, starting with goals at 4:03 and 8:27. Dakota Swisher accounted for the first score unassisted, while Austin Horton added the second following a Dustin Lorenzo corner kick.

The rest of the first half went scoreless, but early in the second, the Spartans got on the board when junior midfielder Chris Cvecko (Erie, Pa./McDowell) posted his third goal of 2014 unassisted at 54:20.

Just over a minute later, however, Matt Kinkopf beat CWRU freshman goalkeeper Calvin Boyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) from 15 yards out to bump the score back to 3-1. With another 1:03 off of the clock, Kinkopf struck again, this time from five yards out, to put the match out of reach.

Boyle finished the match with three saves. ONU's Deal McNeil faced 17 shots and made six saves.

For the match, the Spartans outshot the Polar Bears, 17-10, and both teams attempted five corner kicks.

The Spartans now have six days off from competition before hosting a fourth consecutive opponent from the Ohio Athletic Conference, Wilmington College, on Saturday, September 27. Action from DiSanto Field is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
