White Scores Late as  Spartan Men Stay Unbeaten with 1-1 Tie at BW

BEREA, Ohio – Freshman midfielder Brandon White (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) scored his second goal of the season in the 74th minute as the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team stay unbeaten with a 1-1 tie at cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday night at The George Finnie Stadium. 

With their third draw of the season, the Spartans move to 1-0-3 overall. The Yellow Jackets sit at 2-1-2. 

Case went down early in the second half when the Yellow Jackets' Aaron Harden scored via an assist from Michael Brennan at the 47:43 mark. The goal was the first allowed for Spartan freshman goalkeeper Ari Lewis (Jericho, N.Y./Jericho) in nearly 150 minutes. 

After outshooting BW, 9-4 in the first half, the Spartans kept the pressure on in the second and finally broke through with 16:24 left in the game when White scored unassisted. 

The Spartans continued the attack and had the majority of the chances in overtime. Sophomore defender Devon Belew (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill) threatened to score twice in the first overtime but both his shots were saved, as was one by sophomore forward Logan Glosser (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) with two seconds left in the OT. Overall, the Spartans outshot the Yellow Jackets in extra time, 11-3. 

For the match, Case led in shots (28-14), shots on goal (9-5) and corner kicks (7-4).

Lewis recorded four saves in between the pipes, and his counterpart, Tyler Beaton, posted eight. 

Case will look to continue its undefeated start to the season when it travels to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College on Tuesday, September 17 at 7 p.m. The Spartans will play their home opener on Saturday, Sept. 21 versus Franklin College (Ind.) at 3:00 p.m. at Case Field.
