Spartan Men’s Soccer Team Ties Baldwin-Wallace, 1-1

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with visiting Baldwin-Wallace College on Tuesday, September 14 at Case Field.

With the tie, the Spartans move to 3-1-2 for the season and return to action this Saturday, September 18 at Oberlin College at 7:00 p.m. B-W moves to 5-1-1 overall.

The game remained scoreless all the way until the 82nd minute when Case junior forward Vinny Bell (Parma Heights, OH/Valley Forge) gained control of a loose ball in the box and found the back of the net for his team-best third goal of the season. The Spartans looked to have victory in their hands but B-W rallied and tied the game when Justin Peterson scored off of a deflection with just 41 seconds remaining in regulation.

Both sides had several scoring threats during the overtime periods but neither was able to convert as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

In goal, junior Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA/George Walton Comprehensive) made four saves for the Spartans while B-W's Ryan Hulings totaled eight.

For the game, Case held a 21-16 shot advantage while B-W led in corner kicks, 8-5.

Following Saturday's game at Oberlin, the Spartans return to the pitch on Saturday, September 25 versus Heidelberg University at 2:00 p.m.
