Spartan Men's Basketball Duo Named All-UAA
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Case Western Reserve University men's basketball sophomore forward Austin Fowler (Farmington Hills, MI/Brother Rice) and senior center Eric Duerr (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) have been named to the 2011 All-University Athletic Association team, announced by the league office on Thursday, March 3.
Fowler garnered first-team honors in his first season with the Spartans, while Duerr earned honorable-mention status for the second straight year.
Fowler led the team and ranked fourth in the UAA in scoring at 16.8 points per game. He also tied for the team lead in rebounding at 6.8 rpg and connected on 40 three-pointers. Fowler's 34 points versus the nationally-ranked University of Rochester on February 20 was the highest total on the team this year.
Duerr averaged 7.0 points and 5.2 rebounds while totaling a team-high 29 blocked shots. His 60 offensive rebounds were also the best in the UAA during the regular season. Earlier this season, Duerr was named a Capital One Academic All-American for a second straight season.
