Spartans Set to Host Rival CMU in Battle for the Obelisk

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to host rival Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) on Saturday, February 4 in the annual “Battle for the Obelisk” at the Veale Center.

The Obelisk Trophy is awarded to the winning school in what has become an annual dual meet between the two programs started by fifth-year Spartan Head Coach Steve Rubin.

Last season's dual came right down to the wire with CMU edging the Spartans 127-126. Case won on the women's side, 79-47, but Carnegie Mellon returned the favor on the men's side, 80-47.
