Spartan Football’s Olson and Calabrese Named UAA Athletes of the Week

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Case Western Reserve University junior quarterback Erik Olson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and junior safety Dan Calabrese (Concord, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) have been tabbed as the University Athletic Association Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their roles in a 47-21 win versus Oberlin College on Saturday.

Olson, who has now earned the award in three consecutive weeks, completed 10-of-14 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns versus the Yeomen. For the season, Olson has thrown for 913 yards on 77-of-131 passes with five TDs.

Calabrese turned in a career day with a school-record tying three interceptions – two of which he returned for scores (55 and 56 yards) less than a minute apart. This season, Calabrese has 19 tackles, four interceptions, a forced fumble and three total TDs -- two on interceptions and one on a punt return.

The Spartans (4-1 overall) have won three consecutive games and are back in action this Saturday, October 15 versus Hiram College for Homecoming at 1:00 p.m. at Case Field in Cleveland.
