Spartan Football’s Olson and Nossem Earn UAA Athlete of the Week Honors
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Case Western Reserve University junior quarterback/punter Erik Olson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and junior linebacker Kevin Nossem (Munster, Ind./Munster) have been selected as the University Athletic Association Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their performance in a 24-6 win at Denison University on Saturday.
Olson accounted for 262 yards of offense with two touchdowns in the victory. He completed 15-of-25 passes for 213 yards and a score in addition to rushing for a 62-yard TD dash on a fake punt.
Nossem had a career day with game and team season-highs of 14 tackles and four sacks. He also forced a fumble and recorded his second interception in as many games.
The Spartans (2-1 overall) return to action this Saturday, October 1 at Allegheny College (Pa.). Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Frank B. Fuhrer Field in Meadville.
