Senior Day
The Spartans will be recognizing the team's six graduating players – infielder Alex Capetillo, outfielder Nate Glasser, pitcher Liam Killingstad, pitcher Ben Murphy, infielder Danny Souza and outfielder Dan Watson – with a special 'Senior Day' ceremony prior to the start of Wednesday's game.  Together, the group has gone 97-50 overall during their four years, good for a .660 winning percentage, including a 30-14 record in the University Athletic Association.  The team qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships during the 2016 season, and this year, the squad has opened the campaign with a 23-4 record, is currently ranked 11th in the latest D3baseball.com Top-25, and holds a two-game lead in the UAA standings.

CWRU Spartans
The Spartans have won 10 of their last 11 games, including wins in the final three games of their series against New York University last weekend, improving to 23-4 overall this year.  CWRU was ranked 11th in the latest D3baseball.com Poll, and ninth in the ABCA/ Collegiate Baseball rankings, released last week.  The Spartans are batting .296 as a team with 7.3 runs scored per game, while the pitching staff has a 3.10 ERA with a .228 opponents' batting average.

Head Coach Matt Englander is in his 12th season with the team, and holds a 281-207-2 career record.  The 2014 Mideast Region Coach of the Year and winningest coach in program history has led the team to eight-consecutive seasons of 24 or more victories, two UAA Championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances, while notching a .661 winning percentage (244-125-1) over the last nine seasons.  Englander is assisted by Nick Callahan, Branden Stucky and Andrew Rossman.

Washington & Jefferson Presidents
The Presidents currently stand at 17-9-1 on the year, and will host Waynesburg for a conference doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  Washington and Jefferson was the 2017 NCAA Division III runner-up, and currently leads the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 9-1 league record.  The team has hit .306 and averaged 7.1 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 3.70 ERA with a .279 opponents' average.

The Presidents are under the leadership of Head Coach Jeff Mountain, who is in his 16th season with the team, and has a career record of 444-240-2.  He is assisted by Zak Worsley, Ryan Verlihay, DJ Sammel, Tony Pascarella and Mark Thomchick.

This will be the third meeting of the season between the two teams.  The Spartans topped Washington and Jefferson 7-2 in 11 innings in the teams' season-opener on March 3rd in Washington, Pennsylvania, before the Presidents answered back with an 8-2 win the following day.  CWRU is 6-4 against Washington and Jefferson since the start of the 2013 season.
